Dr. Thomas J. Hubbard is a board-certified plastic surgeon with the technical skills, experience, and devotion to tackle the most difficult of cosmetic surgery procedures – rhinoplasty. Dr. Hubbard has practiced plastic surgery in Southeast Virginia since 1993, and is one of the most respected and experienced rhinoplasty surgeons in the state. Having completed full residency training programs in both Otolaryngology (ENT) and Plastic Surgery, rhinoplasty is his true passion in cosmetic surgery. Board certified in both specialties, he has over 20 years of experience in both primary and secondary rhinoplasties. His main focus is achieving a beautiful, natural, un-operated appearance while also maintaining or improving the airway.

Dr. Hubbard has authored numerous textbook chapters and plastic surgery journal articles during his career and he has been honored to lecture at international, national and regional meetings. He has presented on many occasions to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Rhinoplasty Society. He has performed and taught cosmetic surgery in England, Russia and South America.

Dr. Hubbard graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame and graduated with honors from Washington University School of Medicine. He then completed two residencies: Otolaryngology, a five year surgery program at Washington University in St. Louis, and Plastic Surgery, three more years of surgical training at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Hubbard then further pursued his interest in cosmetic plastic surgery with fellowships at Eastern Virginia Medical School and Wexham Park Hospital outside London, England.

Dr. Hubbard is noted for his volunteer work in third world countries. Beginning with two months in an East Africa medical clinic in 1983, he has since participated in volunteer reconstructive surgery trips to South America, Central America, the Philippines, Central Asia and the Caribbean with Christian Medical Society, Operation Blessing and Operation Smile. In 1994 he founded the non-profit organization Medical Supply Rescue and Recycle (MSSR) which collects excess surgical supplies and used equipment from area hospitals to send to Africa and Central and South America. In 1998, the US Ambassador recognized him for donating supplies to the country of Sierra Leone in West Africa. In 2002, Dr. Hubbard began donating part of patient’s surgeon’s fees to purchase instruments for surgeons in developing countries. With these donations through MSRR, more than $130,000 worth of surgical instruments have been sent to developing countries, with over $25,000 to Haiti alone.
